About Our Program

From birth, our puppies are more than just part of a business – they are an extension of our family. We take great care in responsible breeding practices, ensuring that all parent dogs undergo thorough health testing to minimize the risk of hereditary diseases. Our puppies are raised with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI), and are introduced to a variety of noises such as vacuums, fireworks, blow dryers, clippers, music, lawn mowers, dirtbikes and more. They grow up in our home, surrounded by kids, and other dogs, and are exposed to early grooming, potty training, doggie door training, crate training, and car rides. For the first two weeks of their lives, our puppies stay in our bedroom, receiving constant care and attention. Once they reach two weeks of age, they are moved to our family room, where they continue to receive individual daily attention, weekly baths and blow-dries(Sometimes 2-3 times a week depending). Once 6 weeks old, and after first round of shots puppies are then moved out to our guest house where they are exposed to larger play areas, and a 16x10 Outside potty area, where puppies acclimate to doggie door training typically our puppies are fully doggie door trained by 8 weeks of age. We follow the BAB Curriculum (Badass Breeder Curriculum), starting ESI and ENS training from day three and conducting daily weight checks for the first two weeks, followed by weekly checks thereafter. You can learn more about the “BAB Curriculum”( Click Here )

Our puppies are exposed to various stimuli, including children, dogs, brooms, mops, and even robot vacuums. When weather permits, they venture out onto our porch to experience other outdoor sounds. We feed our puppies three times a day, using Victor Hi Pro Plus, and make sure to keep them acclimated to everyday household activities for an easier transition to their new homes.

Tail docking and dew claw removal are standard practices. Our puppies receive their first DHPP shots at six weeks of age, along with deworming and a thorough vet examination. If pup where to have a hernia we repair at their 6 week checkup. We take immense pride in our puppies and go above and beyond to ensure that they are well-prepared for their forever homes, providing the best possible start in life.

About the Poodle Breed

Here at Kentuckiana Poodles, we strive to give you the best four legged friend you can possibly ask for. We know all dogs have the ability to become a special part of anyones family, but somehow these little bundles of fur have taken the hearts of over 63 MILLION people in the US! What makes a pup a good fit for a family? There are so many different kinds of dogs, ranging from tiny to large breeds, and a whole host of varied personalities. You probably want your dog to have qualities like friendliness, loyalty, and trust if you have a home with kids. Perhaps one of the most popular dog breeds, the poodle, could be the right choice for you. Not to mention they are hypo-allergenic, Coming from a family who’s fiancé and son is extremely allergic to dogs, and their allergies are not at all effected!! Sometimes it's tough to get past that pretty face. Poodles often get stereotyped as frou-frou or ditzy, and it's often just because of their elaborate haircuts. In reality, they are highly intelligent dogs. Although many people associate the poodle with France, the breed is believed to have originated in Germany where the dogs were trained to hunt ducks, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC) The name comes from a German word meaning to splash around in puddles. The dog's swimming talent and thick, curly coat made it a natural in the water — and this skill led to the breed's iconic haircut.

Hunters wanted their dogs to be able to move about easily in the water, but they also wanted to protect key areas of their body from the cold. So, they shaved most of their legs, neck, underside and rear end, but left their leg joints and chest covered to keep them warm. The result was a functional hairdo that certainly turns heads. The AKC says these rounded tufts of hair are called pompons (not to be confused with pom-poms).

Poodles are known for their obedience, liveliness, and loyalty, making them ideal family companions, service dogs, and therapy dogs. They typically live between 12 and 15 years. Standard poodles weigh between 25 and 85 pounds, toy poodles weigh between 6 and 9 pounds on average and up to 10” tall, miniature poodles weigh between 15 and 17 pounds on average, and between 10”-15” tall Additionally, there is a size known as "Moyen," meaning "medium" in French, which is recognized in Europe but not in the US. In the US, Moyen poodles are typically around 15" - 20" tall at the shoulder and weigh approximately 15-35lbs on average and last but not least we have our standard size poodles technically merging with the moyens, anything over 15” tall and can weigh on average anywhere from 25-85 lbs!
